What’s ironic is that Obama’s got the straight talk on this issue. He’s not just going to give some useless summer gas tax break or try drilling for a minimal amount of oil that we won’t even see for a couple decades. In this case, taxes are the hard reality. If we don’t tax gas, people will continue to drive huge cars. Let’s face it, if you’ve got half the country driving Suburbans and F-350s, you just can’t expect the price of oil to go down. Furthermore, Obama would end the subsidies for these vehicles, which was pretty much put in place by the oil industry in the first place. And then subsidize “alternative” vehicles such as EVs. Go to Teslamotors.com and you’ll see that ending oil consumption isn’t that far fetched. Build solar power plants and wind farms >in the united states< and you’ve got yourself plenty of cheap energy to drive battery powered cars while creating loads of jobs in America without running oil rigs up and down our beautiful coast line.

DOWN? He wants to tax the oil companies – that would increase prices when they pass the tax onto the consumer. He doesn’t understand that if there are more sources to oil (e.g., drilling) costs will go down.

I don’t know but I’m sure it has something to do with this trip to Iraq. Obama is probably over there selling our souls to the Devil. So he can get lower gas prices and show all of America right before the election that he can. Obama will stop at nothing to get a vote.

Just to set the record straight — McCain doesn’t support anything.

…why doesn’t he tell us what he’ll do for us if we elect him, rather than continually telling us what Obama won’t do. I McCain wants my vote, he needs to tell me what he’ll do for me, and he isn’t doing that.

He’s not bringing down prices. He’s putting a tax on them to raise them.

He will socialize it. (goverment controlled)……which will temperarily reduce prices at the pump…..but will increase our taxes to make up the difference.

He does not want gas price to come down…so there goes the plan. He wants to punish the most efficient oil companies in the world…American oil companies. They are the best in the industries and their profit margin is not excessive at all…you don’t hear dems talk about profit margin..they talk about size of the profit. They think Americans are too stupid to understand the difference. These lousy politicians should pay windfall tax themselves since they have done more harm than good to the good old USA!
