I read an article where Castro is saying, among a lot of other things, that Bush will cause a world famine because he wants to try and use corn for an alternative fuel source. That I don’t understand. Doesn’t everyone want an alternative fuel source? You plant more corn that’s all. What is his reasoning for saying this I wonder?
I don’t care right now about the other stuff he is saying. I’m just interested in this question for now.

Castro is amusing. He always has been. He’s supporting his communist buddy in South American who refers to Bush as the Devil.
Producing corn for fuel won’t cause a world shortage. Period. And if it does, so what? Tell OPEC to lower their prices and we’ll scale back on alternate fuel production, and go back to feeding the ungrateful masses of the world.
Isn’t it interesting how leaders of countries that **** the US make statements like that? If the US wanted to cause a situation like that, all grain, and meat exports would be halted. That might be a good idea anyways.
I think Castro is a dying old communist who doesn’t have a clue what he is talking about.
He’s an aging dictator who has one goal in life: criticize the US. You’re right. Plant more corn. Sure, prices will go up, but there are many other crops to go around. Farmers are very efficient these days.
OH.. YOU MUST BE TALKING ABOUT THE NEW AGRICULTURAL THING BEING CREATED IN THE U.S.A. IT WILL BE CALLED O.F.E.C. OR ORGANIZATION FOR FOOD EXPORTING COUNTRIES… BUT WATCH OUT FOR WHAT WE PUT IN THE GRAINS BE EXPORTED.MIGHT MAKE PEOPLE STERILE
Castro is correct on this. We are immoral by burning food in our cars. That is sick. Our politicians are owned by the big businesses pushing ethanol. And it’s not only the food thing, the production of ethanol pollutes the earth and uses more middle eastern oil too. Huge amounts of coal fired electricity is used by ethanol plants. And the tractors and the trucks consume huge amounts of fuel for ethanol production. Our so called environmentalists should be ashamed for remaining quiet on this.
It isn’t a question of food exports, – if this worked, people would be farming corn all over the world instead of other products. Castro maybe partly right. Of course he wants to criticize the USA and particularly George Bush, but wisdom is to take criticism seriously and see what we can learn from it. yes, we need to find alternate energy sources, and corn might be a part of the answer, but we need to be thinking about all of the possible consequences.
Of course, another thing would be forcing the car and truck manufacturers to make vehicles that burn less fuel. What would the consequences be?
1. Health: better for the environment
2. Economy: this would save lots of money that could be used for other things (like war? – no, that’s sick!)
3. Security: This would take money away from the nations that are the source of terrorists. Terrorists are often really mobsters bent on making money – not the actual ******* bombers, but those who recruit them.
